Venus in ScorpioLook at the image for Sagittarius and you will know what it means to have our lovely new moon energy in the sign of Sagittarius. Fired up and ready for action. Ideals mixed with enthusiasm and positive direction. Isn’t that a lovely way to start your holiday season? I would think so.

Sagittarius is a fire sign. Strong, independent, idealistic and always wanting to be optimistic. Using this kind of energy to move forward is the ultimate in uplifting ourselves to feel that life is worth living! With Mars, the planet that governs our energy levels in general, also in Sagittarius, we’ve got it all. So fire up those rockets and use this new moon to describe, define and then manifest all of the delights that the Universe has in store. The more specific you can be in your description of your needs and wants; the better.

Okay, I know that I’m the budding optimist here and yet if we lack optimism and positive thinking, what do we have? There certainly is enough negativity and darkness shown to us every day. Alas, my friends, there are other energies abound. Goodness and kindness and compassion. Music and art, simple good foods and even the voice of a friend or loved one. All of this can make our day sweeter and even easier to deal with all of that “other stuff”. Sagittarius represents much of the above.

I realize that the holidays are upon us and with that comes, unfortunately for so many, worry and frustration that there will not be enough to share or give. Year after year we find ourselves pushing and shoving ourselves to do more and buy more and even be more. All of this for the sake of looking good to others. I say let’s do it different. I say use this fiery and passionate new moon energy to decide to give only that which makes sense. Sagittarius is a natural artist. Spend the next few days planning what you can creatively make or give as a gift. If you are planning on buying gifts, support a local artist in your community.

This will be the last new moon of 2010. As we prepare to enter the deep, dark winter let us take with us the fiery and feisty energy of Sagittarius. Soon we will have the more serious Capricorn energy coming our way. The end of the year is near. Make sure you spend some time journaling your accomplishments for 2010. I will share more of how to do that in my full moon message later in the month.
